it started on an ordinary thursday morning, with a thought about consistency.
i wish i had it; that simple, steady commitment to the things i want to do. there is this constant urge to share my thoughts and where i am, but i don't have that one person to tell. posting on social media just gives me anxiety, so like a lot of people, i end up keeping everything to myself.
i realized that we are often terrified of being completely honest with the people who actually know us, so we just bury it. that's why i wanted to make this space. it's for sharing pieces of our minds with strangers who don't know us at all, but who might read a line and feel exactly what we meant.
root & reason was built on a simple truth. the most honest things we say are rarely told to a crowd. they happen quietly; in a letter we never send, a random comment on a stranger's post, or a passing line about the weather that somehow means so much more. this is just a slow, quiet corner to leave those thoughts behind, with no likes or algorithms, just hoping they find the right person.
a few things this place believes
- no algorithm decides what you see here — a person does.
- every submission is read before it's ever shared.
- anonymity is welcome; performance isn't required.
- this grows slowly, on purpose.
